Who can apply for the CDCP?
Applications are now open for Canadian residents who are:
- Seniors aged 65 and over (and meet all eligibility requirements)
- Adults with a valid federal Disability Tax Credit certificate
- Children under the age of 18
What you should know about the CDCP
Once you have applied, there will be a period of waiting for a response for them. This response will let you know which day you or your family member will become active on the plan and what level of coverage you will receive. Some people are covered at 100%, while others might be covered at 60% or 40%. This will be determined by CRA and is based on your combined Family Net income.

Once enrolled, the welcome package you receive from Sun Life will include the date you can start seeing an oral health provider. Appointments can only be scheduled on or after your coverage start date.
Your start date will depend on:
- When we receive your application and
- When we complete your enrolment
PLEASE NOTE:
This is not a free dental program. Depending on your adjusted family net income, patients may have to make a co-payment of up to 60%. You may also have to pay costs the CDCP does not cover.
The CDCP does not cover all dental services. Before you start any treatment, you should understand your dental care costs. Please let us know if you plan to use the CDCP benefits.
